Košice Nightlife: A Guide to the Best Spots in the City
Košice is quite a small city. Most of its nightlife happens in the old historic center on Hlavná Street. The city offers a variety of pubs, bars, karaoke, alternative, or underground clubs. There are some exceptions, venues available nearby.
In the Košice nightlife scene, geographic-themed names have become a popular trend. Many pubs, bars, and clubs draw inspiration from international locations. Some venues offer more than just drinks; they provide patrons with a taste of different cultures, adding a global vibe to the city’s nightlife. This naming trend lets locals and visitors alike experience the essence of far-off destinations while staying in Košice, adding to the diversity and appeal of its nightlife.
Tabačka Kulturfabrik
The history of these venues dates back to 2009. Some locals from the Bona Fide organization and Peter Radkoff decided to give an old tobacco factory a new life. Later, the venue received a grant for its reconstruction and modernization. New Tabačka was born at around 2500 m2. The place offers various cultural events, such as concerts, theater performances, and contemporary dance. It also features new circus acts, exhibitions, multicultural gatherings, and interactive installations. The program also features workshops, lectures, and community-focused gatherings. It is also available for freelancers and entrepreneurs looking for a pleasant co-working center.
Kasárne Kulturpark
The former area of military quarters from the 19th century set in a historical park underwent reconstruction in 2012. The main aim was to utilize the buildings for the needs of the cultural center and to create a new urban area. Only three of the original buildings remained. They added eight new ones. Currently, Kasárne hosts many events, from festivals (tech, travel, education, etc), fashion shows, and late-night quizzes to special events for older people.
