11 Best beaches in Hurghada

Edit Template

Hurghada dominates its surroundings with approximately 40 km long coastline which may be a great paradise for holidays. In case there is no shark lurking around the corner.

This article about Hurghada beaches introduces the best public, mostly paid places, as well as some hotel resorts with private beaches. The ones that I free of charge usually do not have any amenities, or the cleanest shores available.

Hurghada Beaches

The nearest to the center

Orange bay

Located on Giffun Island, the beach offers great conditions for snorkeling and swimming. It resembles Maldives with certain accessories like the swings, or the hammock in the water. The water is quite shallow and may not go above the knees. People tend to visit it with organized boat tours. The place is very clean with enough shade options. But be aware that you are not allowed to bring any food with you and some of the drinks may be a little bit more expensive. Also strolling around by yourself is not very possible.

Dream beach

Situated near Old Sheraton Marina, the beach comes with a 200Le entrance fee per person. It includes a sunbed, towel, and a small bottle of cold water (the information is valid for the end of 2023). You can not bring your food or drinks, but you can try its restaurant where you can pay with cash or a card. The place is very clean but the sea ground is rocky and better doable with swimming shoes. It is also the beach where the latest shark attack happened in June 2023.

Old Vic beach

Located right next to Dream Beach. The beach is very yellow without stones or rocks. It comes with a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. You can enjoy and observe the marine life around you. The place underwent reconstruction. The entrance fees used to be approximately 150 LE.

Sheraton beach

There are two Sheraton Hurghada beaches, the new one and the old one. The old one is great for families with kids. Not very big but it offers privacy. The entrance to the water is sandy and the entrance to the beach in general is 150 LE. The newest one comes with an entrance fee of 150 LE. The beach is sandy but with pebbles and shells at the entrance, but overall very clean and tidy. There is also a lifeguard. The prices of amenities, food and drinks are ok.

Shellghada beach

Next to the new Sheraton beach is Shellghada with an entrance fee of 150 LE including a sunbed, tower, and umbrella. The water is clean but with some rocks. When you swim further from the coast you can enjoy snorkeling and the underwater life. The restaurant and the bar are open late in the evening in case you want to spend some time observing the sunset. But the place is quite small but may not be that crowded.

Roma beach

If you want the best place for the ultimate snorkeling experience in the city then this beach is the best one. With an abundance of coral reefs and marine life, it’s essential to come prepared with swimming shoes for the best exploration. The water depth is moderate, reducing the risk of water sports accidents. Additionally, there are ample shallow sandy sections suitable for children or those who prefer avoiding rocky areas. Entrance fees typically range from 35 to 50 LE.

Orange beach

Quite a small beach that may sometimes be crowded (there may not be that many people though but if you are an introvert 10 or more people can be too many). The entrance fee is 100 LE per person. You get a sunbed with an umbrella for the price but if you want a towel you can rent it for 25 LE. The prices for food and drinks are ok. You can also bring your food and drinks. The beach and water are clean but with rocky back.

Makadi Bay

Well-known destinations among Hurghada beaches. The majority of the beaches are accessible through resorts and hotels. The waters are clean with sandy shores suitable for swimming and snorkeling. Some of the best Makadi Bay beaches include Serenity Beach (luxurious resort with Maroccan-style architecture), Sunrise Royal (for watersports enthusiasts), Iberotel (luxurious with jetty and coral reef), Hilton Long, Fort Arabesque (watersports, dining options), Siva Grand (10 min drive from downtown).

Soma Bay

Soma Bay is a 5 km long and 2 km wide peninsula surrounded by the sea from all sides. 45 km from Hurghada in near Safaga. It offers a combination of active and relaxing. Since there are some winds it is suitable for kite safari. But also for watersports including golf. Relaxation is covered with spa, wellness, cosmetic, hydrotherapy, thalassotherapy, or underwater massages.

The Smokery beach

This one is located in El Gouna, approximately a 40-minute car ride from Hurghada Center. The place is spacious with possible entry fees. Great place for relaxation away from people. There is also a restaurant with cocktails and delicious food.

Buzzha beach

Clean beach with not very deep waters. You have to walk many meters to get the water over not only the knees but also the waist. Not much to see under it. The waters are more suitable for kitesurfers – many of them are hanging around right next to it (there is a sports school on the shore too). You can also get food and drinks at Big Belly Beach Bar and restaurant nearby. They also have free wifi.
