Hypic App Review: Your New Go-To Photo Editor?
There are countless editing apps for mobile users. It is probably impossible to try them all unless you have plenty of free time. If you are a frequent CapCut user, you might have bumped into the Hypic photo editor app.
In the following paragraphs, I will review and discuss the Hypic app, its pros and cons, compare it with other apps, and provide tips on how to use it.
What is Hypic
Key Features of Hypic
The most important features that can attract your attention are the AI filters, premade templates, collage maker, photo enhancer and restoration, facelifting, and retouching, easy object and background removal, and batch editing.
Who Should Use Hypic?
The app caters to a broad and diverse range of users, making it highly beneficial for a vast audience. It is suitable for beginner photo editors and hobbyists. Some of its features can also be useful for professional photographers, editors, and graphic designers.
Many users might be interested in its versatile features to create engaging content for social media. Content creators, influencers, digital marketers, and small business owners may use it to improve their brand visuals without investing in expensive tools. An app with simple and effective tools capable of creating customizable visuals and quick edits on mobile may be the right choice.
Free vs. Paid Features
Free plan includes
– Basic photo editing options (contrast, saturation, brightness, etc)
– AI filters and effects
– One-click enhancements
– Batch editing, collage
– Text and stickers
– Background change and removal
Paid plan
While testing the app, I noticed that some tools have neon green icons with a timer and the text “Free.” Some of those tools were automatic Enhance image, Auto Adjust, Auto Fix Retouch, and Patch erase. Additional ones are inside the Effects and AI image options like the Doves effect, AI Auto Fill, and special hair colors (rainbow, split hair color, black and white).
Face retouching and facelifting tools with timer icons include Face slimming, left-right, up-down, face angle change, eye angle, and mouth angle.
Otherwise, I did not find any additional information about the paid features.
Pros and Cons of Hypic
Hypic photo editor is easy to use and navigate. The interface is user-friendly and intuitive. AI features such as filters, background removal, face retouching, or various other filters make it easy to create unique end images with quick edits, thus reducing the time spent on editing. Many features are free (at least at the moment of writing this post – December 2024) and optimized for mobile.
Comparison of Hypic with Other Popular Photo Editors (e.g., Snapseed, Lightroom, Canva)
I will compare Hypic with InShot, Canva, Lightroom, and Photoshop Express.
Hypic vs InShot
Inshot is more suitable for users looking to edit videos who occasionally want or need to edit pictures. On the other hand, Hypic photo editor is for people interested in image editing in a short period with the help of quick AI-powered enhancements. If you are into face retouching, face tuning, facelifting, or quick background removal, the app is for you.
Hypic vs. Lightroom
One reason professional photographers prefer Lightroom is the ability to edit batches of images in a similar style. At the same time, it allows for in-depth adjustments and precise color grading on individual photos. Additionally, RAW file support is an essential feature. Hypic app does not support RAW files, only JPGs and PNGs, but you can batch edit with minimal effort.
Hypic vs. Canva
Canva offers easy-to-customize templates for social media, websites, or prints. Its ideal user is a graphic designer who is not looking to do a lot of photo editing inside it. Hypic does offer some templates, or you can create your own, but in the first place, it is for fast and creative photo enhancements.
Hypic vs. Photoshop Express
Photoshop Express offers more professional-level tools. Advanced retouching, blending, and AI tools, such as object insertion, are also available. Hypic focuses more on speed and creativity with minimal effort.
Unlike the apps mentioned above, Hyptic Photo Editor does not provide a desktop version. This limitation makes it less appealing to professional editors who require precise attention to detail.
How to Use Hypic
Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners
Download the app from the App Store or Google Play and open it on your mobile device. After launching, you can sign up and create an account using your email. Creating an account allows you to store and access all your projects and templates across multiple devices.
Upload your first photo by tapping the Plus Select Photo button and selecting the image from the gallery. After importing your first photo, you can apply auto or manual filters and effects. You can also make adjustments, remove or change the background, retouch, or insert texts, shapes, and stickers.
If you are satisfied with the edits, tap the arrow-down icon in the top-right corner of your screen to save them. You will also have a quick option to share directly on the TikTok app.
Filters, Effects, Adjustments, BG removal
If you are going for a specific style, filters, effects, and adjustments are the tools to look for.
Both filters and effects introduce trending ones at the beginning of the tab.
Filters
The available filters are Retro, Film, Nature, Scenery, Dreamy, Oil Painting, Movie, and Black and White.
The AI image filter introduces features like Auto Fill, Video Game filter, Hair Color Change, Cartoon Remake, AI Vintage, AI Comic, and AI Cyberpunk. Special ones are the Expression change features through which you can make the person smile or laugh.
Effects
Besides basic ones like a blur, fisheye, noise, vignette, lens, and cube, there are advanced Blur effects. For example, features like Pixel Stretch and Defocus can be helpful. Additionally, there are light effects such as light subtitles, shaped light in the form of hearts, window shadows, and more. Retro enthusiasts will appreciate the Retro, DV, Material effects, and Chromatic Aberration, also known as glitch art effects.
Adjustments
Adjustment features let you crop the image, auto-adjust it, and change shine and lightness, exposure, contrast, saturation, vibrance, curves, highlights, shadows, temperature, sharpness, structure, hue, grain, fade, HSL, and texture. Additional features include Enhanced Light, Tyndall Effect, Dehaze, Brilliance, Faded Film, and Face Enhancer.
Background removal
To remove a background in Hypic, upload your photo and select Background Removal – the Cutout tool. It uses AI to isolate the subject automatically. Manual removal is also available. After you remove the background, you can replace it with a solid colour, gradient, or custom image from the library by adding an overlay and moving it to the bottom layer. For precise edits, use the Eraser and Preview tools to fine-tune the edges.
Alternatives for More Complex BG Edits
If you are not satisfied with the outcome and you need something more precise, try software like Adobe Photoshop. It offers precise manual tools such as the Pen Tool and Select and Mask feature for detailed work.
